The DEFY Value Pack: two DEFY bottles, a Finish Shine V2 and 10 cloths.
You know the Saturday. Hose out, bucket filled, and the water is already drying into spots on the black tank before the towel gets there.
Chrome makes it worse. One rider, in a YouTube comment: "Motorcycle with chrome can take even longer then a vehicle."
Yes, dish soap and a hose will get it clean. They also cost you the afternoon, and a pressure washer near wheel bearings, switchgear and connectors is a risk most riders will not take.
So here is the kit riders are using instead: six picks, no hose. Spray, wipe, buff. The wash cleans and leaves a ceramic layer in the same wipe, the protection makes bugs and dust let go, and the whole job happens in the garage.
Three of the six do the washing and protecting. Three are for wheels, chrome and spare cloths. You do not need all six: the wash is £42, and the three that do most of the work are £99 together.
The first thing riders ask is whether wiping a dusty bike scratches it. It can. Pick 1 says exactly when, and pick 6 is why the pack ships with 10 cloths. Pick 2 has the number from Project Farm's test of 8 coatings.
The point is not a clean bike for its own sake. It is the stranger at the pump who walks around it and says something. One owner put it this way: "My 2024 Street Glide gets a ton of compliments."
Every product below is sold by Ethos Car Care, and this guide is published by Ethos. Quotes with a name are reviews from verified Ethos buyers, word for word. Rider comments without a name are public YouTube comments, word for word. They are not customer reviews.
Putting It Away This Month? Don't Cover It Dirty
The hose is shut off. The bike is going under a cover anyway. So the wash gets skipped.
Whatever is on the bike in October sits on it until April. Road film, bug residue and, if you rode late, salt.
One rider, in a YouTube thread on winter storage: "It's the salt / grit that's the problem, not the ice / snow." A cover does not take it off. It keeps it there.
So the bike goes under the cover clean and coated, and you do it in the garage with a spray bottle. Another rider, in the same kind of thread, on why his routine is short: "the bike is clean and dry when its stored and not ridden in the winter."
Put the RESIST coat on now, and it will still be beading when you roll it out in spring.
The picks
1
DEFY Ceramic Waterless Wash, Value Pack The pick
Best for: the whole wash, no hose
Wash the Whole Bike With a Spray Bottle and Two Cloths
A hose wash leaves water in every fin, fastener and seam. Then you chase it with a towel for an hour.
DEFY skips the water and leaves a ceramic layer in the same wipe. Spray the panel and the cloth, wipe, then buff with a dry cloth before it hazes. It lifts road dust and bug film, and it bonds a non-stick ceramic layer to the surface as it cleans.
One honest limit, straight from DEFY's own product page: it is not for heavily soiled surfaces. Mud, sand and gravel get rinsed off first. Road dust and bug film are what it is for. And like every bottle here, it stays off tire tread, brake discs and pads.
Worried about dragging dust across the paint? The fix is cloths, not water. One rider's method, from a YouTube comment: "have a couple of towels and shift side after a dirty panel." The pack comes with 10.
The Value Pack is two bottles of DEFY, a Finish Shine V2 ceramic spray for touch-ups and a 10-pack of microfiber cloths. Two bottles of DEFY alone are £36. The pack is £42 and adds the Finish Shine V2 and the 10 cloths. It is rated for 6 to 8 car-size washes, about $7 to $9 a wash, and a bike is a lot less surface than a car.
“I have always been skeptical of waterless washing, as in how do you wipe stuff off the paint without scratching it. But after some self education and plush microfibers. This stuff really is awesome.”
£42 for the pack. The DEFY wash inside it is rated 4.97 from 559 reviews.
Make the Tank and Fairing Too Slick for Bugs to Hold
After a long day in the saddle the fairing is plastered, and baked bugs do not want to come off bare paint.
Came here for a motorcycle wax? This is the spray that does that job: RESIST, a graphene and ceramic spray coating. Spray, spread, buff. No cure time. One application is rated for 12+ months.
How slick is it? Project Farm, the YouTube product-testing channel, ran an independent test of 8 coatings in July 2026. RESIST needed the least pull to drag a sponge across it: 2.3 lb, the slickest of the 8, slicker than a $110 kit in the same test. A slick surface gives bugs, dust and water less to grip.
Use it on paint: tank, fenders, fairing, bags. Keep it off tire tread, brake discs and pads, and off the seat, grips, pegs and levers. Slick is the whole idea, and you do not want it there.
Three bottles are £46 against £81 for three singles. More than 8 in 10 RESIST 16 oz orders are the 3-pack.
“Washed the bike, put Ethos resist on, went on a 200 mile ride. Didn't need to wash again, no dust no bugs no wash. The best.”
£46 for 3 bottles (you save £35 against three singles). RESIST is rated 4.9 from 652 reviews.
Bugs that sit on the fairing overnight bake on. Tomorrow they take scrubbing, and scrubbing is how paint gets marked.
Detail Spray is the bottle that lives with the bike. Mist a clean microfiber, lay it over the bugs for a minute to soften them, then wipe. Never a paper towel.
Use it on the tank, fairing, fenders and chrome. Its product page promises no residue or streaks, even on glass and black surfaces.
It cleans and shines. It does not protect: that is RESIST's job, in pick 2.
“I’ve used it on my truck, car and motorcycle. It works fantastic!”
All three go straight to checkout. You save £35 on the RESIST bottles against three singles. RESIST: slickest of 8 coatings in Project Farm's independent test (2.3 lb).
30-day money-back guarantee on every bottle. Use it first. If it does not perform, you get your money back.

Wheel Cleaner, Brake Dust Remover
Best for: brake dust a wipe will not move
Watch the Brake Dust Turn Red and Run Off the Wheel
Brake dust bakes onto a wheel, and a cloth alone will not shift it.
Spray Wheel Cleaner on a cool, dry wheel and give it 2 to 5 minutes. It turns deep red as it dissolves the dust. It is pH neutral, with no caustic acids.
This is the one pick that needs a rinse. A watering can over the wheel does it. You still do not need a pressure washer.
Three cautions. Its product page says to keep it off matte plastic trim and delicate finishes, and not to let it dry on the wheel. Its product page does not list chrome or polished wheels, so test a hidden spot first. And aim it at the rim and spokes, not at the brake discs or pads.
“My Harley wheels look better than when I bought it”
Buff Chrome and Mirrors With a Cloth Made for Shine
Chrome shows every smear, and a shop rag leaves lint in it.
This cloth's product page lists what it is for: cleaning windows, glass and mirrors, and polishing chrome and other shiny metals. It is a 550 GSM twist-loop microfiber, lint-free and non-abrasive, with a soft suede border that gets into tight spots.
Use it dry or slightly damp on chrome covers, cold pipes, mirrors and gauge faces.
What it will not do: fix pitted or blued chrome. That takes a metal polish, and Ethos does not make one.
“This is the best glass cleaning cloth I have ever used.”
The Scratch Question Comes Down to How Many Cloths You Have
The top complaint about waterless washing is fair: wipe a dusty bike with one cloth and you drag that dust across the paint.
The fix is cloths, not water. Use a couple of towels, turn to a clean side after every panel, and start at the tank.
One owner with a graphene-coated motorcycle checked his paint under a UV light after using DEFY: "I was worried about washing it or using a detail spray, but after using this and a UV light the coating remains untouched! Very happy." That is Frank H., a verified buyer.
The windscreen is the other place the cloth matters. Most bike windscreens are polycarbonate or acrylic, not glass, and they mark far easier than glass does. DEFY's product page lists plastic among its surfaces: put DEFY on a clean microfiber, never straight on the screen, and wipe. Glass cleaners and glass coatings are made for glass, so none is in this kit. If your windscreen maker's care sheet says water only, the care sheet wins.
The Value Pack already comes with 10 cloths, which covers a bike. This second 10-pack is for the rider who wipes down after every ride and wants a clean stack between laundry days.
“This microfiber towel works great and doesn't leave any lint like other brand microfiber towels.”
Optional extra: for the days it does get a real wash
For Rinse Days: Dry the Tank Before the Spots Set
Mud, sand, a salted road: some days the bike needs water first. Spots form when that water dries on black paint before you reach it.
MAX is a 24 x 36 inch, 1400 GSM triple-layer drying towel with its edges sewn inside. It is built to dry a sedan in two passes. On a bike, that is the tank, fenders and bags in one go.
Skip it if your bike only ever sees road dust. The six picks cover that.
Verified Ethos buyers, from reviews collected by Stamped. Quoted word for word, typos included.
“I have an Artic White BMW X5 and a Black GoldWing. Both products make the paint POP! Very easy to use.”
“My Harley, Ram and Corvette stands out from all the rest. People always remarking about how my 11 yr old Ram looks new, My 2024 Street Glide gets a ton of compliments.”
“I use this product on my goldwing trike and it is amazing it shines and sparkles like no other”
“I used it on my 22 Harley. I have always used quality products on my vehicles. This stuff is incredible.”
“A must have for motorcycle enthusiasts or any detailer or car enthusiasts!”
One Rule Before You Spray Anything
Nothing in this kit goes on tire tread, brake discs or brake pads. No coating, no shine, no dressing, no overspray.
If a product lands there by accident, wipe it off and wash the spot with water before you ride.
And keep slick products off the seat, grips, pegs and levers.
The Wipe-Down, Top to Bottom
Let the bike cool. Pipes, engine and discs.
Mud, sand or gravel on it? Rinse that off with plain water first. DEFY's product page says so.
DEFY, tank first, then work down. Spray the panel and the cloth, wipe, buff. Turn to a clean cloth face for every panel.
Windscreen: DEFY on a clean microfiber, never sprayed straight on the screen. Soften bugs with a damp cloth first.
Chrome and mirrors: the glass cloth, dry or slightly damp.
Paint clean? Put RESIST on the tank, fenders, fairing and bags. Once covers 12+ months. Keep it off tread, discs, pads, seat, grips, pegs and levers.
5 Wash-Day Habits That Cost Riders Paint, Grip or an Afternoon
Check your own routine against these five. Most riders find at least two.
A pressure washer on bearings and electrics
Rain does not hit a bike the way a pressure wand does. That force can push water past wheel-bearing and swingarm seals and into connectors and switchgear. One rider's rule, from a YouTube comment: "I would not use a pressure washer on my bike."
Counting on dish soap for more than clean
Dish soap cleans, and that is all it does. It leaves nothing behind on the paint, and you still need the hose, the bucket and the towel-dry that cost you the afternoon.
Tire shine near the tread
Any dressing that reaches the tread or a brake disc is a grip problem. Keep every shine and coating away from tread, discs and pads. One rider's warning in a YouTube thread: do not use the same rag on your chain and your brake discs.
Paper towels on the windscreen
A plastic screen marks far easier than glass. Soften baked bugs with a damp cloth first, then use a clean microfiber. One rider on the wrong product, in a YouTube comment: "no WD40 on anything plastic... I learned the hard way."
Storing it dirty
Whatever is on the bike when the cover goes on stays there for months. Clean it and coat it first.

The kit column uses Ethos prices read on October 6, 2026 and the Value Pack's 6 to 8 wash rating. No prices are quoted for the other three because they vary by place.
Scratches come from two things: mud, sand or gravel left on the bike, or one dirty cloth doing the whole job. Rinse the heavy stuff off first, as DEFY's product page says, and turn to a clean cloth face for every panel. On road dust and bug film that is the whole method, and the Value Pack includes 10 cloths.
Is anything here safe on a plastic windscreen?
One bottle: DEFY, on a clean microfiber and never sprayed straight on the screen. Its product page lists plastic among its surfaces. The glass cleaner and the glass coating Ethos sells are made for glass, so they are not in this kit. If your windscreen maker says water only, follow that.
Does this kit work on matte or denim paint?
No. Ethos does not rate these products for matte, satin or denim finishes. This kit is for gloss paint and chrome. If your bike is matte, this is not your kit.
Is it safe on chrome and black chrome?
DEFY and Detail Spray both list chrome on their product pages, and the glass cloth is made for polishing chrome and shiny metals. Black chrome and powder coat are finishes over the metal: test a hidden spot first.
My bike is ceramic coated. Will DEFY hurt the coating?
Frank H., a verified buyer, had the same worry about his graphene-coated motorcycle and checked it under a UV light: "I was worried about washing it or using a detail spray, but after using this and a UV light the coating remains untouched! Very happy." RESIST is also sold as a topper that maintains existing coatings.
What if it does not work on my bike?
Ethos has a 30-day money-back guarantee, and it covers a product you have already used. Try it on the bike first. To claim, email [email protected] with your order number.
Where to start
Six Picks. No Hose. Start With the Wash.
Next Saturday the hose stays on the wall. You spray, wipe and buff in the garage, and the bike is ready for the pump. The wash is the piece that gives you the Saturday back.
The rider kit is the Value Pack, 3 bottles of RESIST and Detail Spray. Wash it, coat it for 12+ months, keep a bottle for touch-ups. Over the $75 free-shipping line. All three go straight to checkout.
Every Ethos product is backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee. Use it on the bike. If it does not perform, you get a full refund.
To claim, email [email protected] with your order number, even if the bottle is empty.
30 days. The refund covers a product you have already used.
P.S. Putting the bike away this month? Do the wipe-down and the RESIST coat once, before the cover goes on. It will still be beading when you roll it out in spring.
